I’ve lost count of all the blue jays
that have passed through the woodlot.
The barer the trees the more spaces
for the jays to appear
in the same blue mirror.
It’s been October forever.
The gold light lingers
even unto night and sleep,
transmigrating with jays,
going where October goes.
