It’s raining eyes made of snow and rain
the rain sees everything
the snow freezes everything the eyes see
all the pictures on our walls are weeping
dogs moan with human voices
our faces are drowning in a river
it is the saddest thing in the world
to see a child licking the eye of time
‘The Eye of Time’ is very spooky as well as depressing. Take note that it was sent to me last year. MY email is still out of sorts and I haven’t received a poem from you for a long time. I believe my new email address will be sent to you along with this message. Just to be clear, I will quote it here: sharonroebuck723@gmail.com. I’ve been told that switching to gmail will prevent more hacking. Love, Sharon. P.S. The final line in ‘The Eye of Time’ reminds me of a James Dickey poem we’ve talked about before: ‘The Eye-Beaters’ I believe was the title.

Hi, Sharon, thanks for reaching out and sending your email. My email is sala1859@gmail.com. You’re right gmail is more secure. When I was with mdirect I received all kinds of nonsense. Anyway, thanks for your comment. I really didn’t have James Dickey in mind. I’ve recently been inspired by a Greek poem by the name of Miltos Sachtouris. His poetry is quite strange, surreal, and yet with a kind of underlying logic that seems to appeal to me. I’ve tried to imitate his style when I can, though I do continue to write in my own voice. Love, Sal.
